A transversal approach to predict surface charge compensation in piezoelectric force microscopy

چکیده
Piezoelectric force microscopy (PFM) has demonstrated to be a powerful tool characterize ferroelectric materials. However, extrinsic effects, most notably, those resulting from surface charges, often mask or mirror genuine piezoelectric response, challenging PFM data understanding. The contribution of charges signal is commonly compensated by using appropriate external bias voltage, which ad-hoc selected and sample dependent. Here, we determine the compensating voltage in thin films different materials compare with corresponding I-V characteristics recorded suitable electrodes. It turns out that sign magnitude required compensate are related asymmetry characteristics. We propose this relation results fact semiconducting properties material both dependence, charged adsorbates. show how make use correlation predict compensation non-ferroelectric spurious piezoelectric-like contributions largely cancelled. provide guidelines mitigate common imaging.

Dynamic Lorentz Force Compensation with a Fast Piezoelectric Tuner
Superconducting cavities are highly susceptible to small changes in resonance frequency due to their narrow bandwidth. At the proposed linac for the TESLA Linear Collider [1] the frequency changes resulting from mechanical deformations caused by Lorentz force detuning of the pulsed cavities will be of the order of the cavity bandwidth at the design operating gradient close to 25 MV/ m. The addi...
متن کاملAtomic Force Microscopy Application in Biological Research: A Review Study
Atomic force microscopy (AFM) is a three-dimensional topographic technique with a high atomic resolution to measure surface roughness. AFM is a kind of scanning probe microscope, and its near-field technique is based on the interaction between a sharp tip and the atoms of the sample surface. There are several methods and many ways to modify the tip of the AFM to investigate surface properties, ...
متن کاملAtomic force microscopy with a 12-electrode piezoelectric tube scanner.
This paper presents a piezoelectric tube scanner with a novel electrode pattern and describes how it may be used for simultaneous sensing and actuation. The electrodes are arranged such that the tube is driven in an antisymmetrical manner, resulting in a collocated system suitable for positive position feedback (PPF). A PPF controller is designed to damp the scanner's resonance. Piezoelectric s...
متن کاملa frame semantic approach to the study of translating cultural scripts in salingers franny and zooey
the frame semantic theory is a nascent approach in the area of translation studies which goes beyond the linguistic barriers and helps us to incorporate cognitive and cultural factors to the study of translation. based on rojos analytical model (2002b), which centered in the frames or knowledge structures activated in the text, the present research explores the various translation problems that...
